Venmo outstanding extension

A Chrome extension that lists every Venmo request you have sent that nobody has paid, and every payment you have sent that has not completed, in one sortable table.

It reads your Venmo Incomplete page in your own browser, using the session you are already signed in to. It needs no API token, no Venmo developer account, and no password. It writes nothing to Venmo and nothing to your ledger.

Ember is not affiliated with Venmo. The extension acts in your own browser, under the sign-in you already have.

Use it

  1. Name a ledger account so it contains the word Venmo, then open that account on Ledger. The extension opens your Venmo Incomplete page in a background tab, reads it, and closes the tab. Nothing else appears on screen.
  2. The account's header carries a Venmo chip reporting how much of that list it could place, such as Venmo: 75 of 80 matched. Clicking it scrolls to the ledger's own Outstanding on Venmo group, where the charges it could not place sit in the ledger's columns with an Add on each.
  3. Click the extension's toolbar icon for the full table. Sort by any column, search a name, handle or note, and click a row to see the full note and how many days it has been outstanding. The expand control opens the same table in a full tab.

What it reads, and what it does not

It reads two lists: requests you sent that are unpaid, and payments you sent that have not completed. Both come from Venmo's own page data, so the amounts and dates are exact rather than rounded for display. Everything it reads stays in the extension's local storage in your browser.

If Venmo asks you to sign in, the extension stops and the chip says so. It never fills in a sign-in form, never submits one, and runs no code at all on the page where you type your Venmo password. It sends no money, cancels nothing, and reminds nobody.
