Ember automates the repetitive parts of bookkeeping — the transactions you post every month, the split you apply every paycheck, the Venmo request you send every time you cover the group dinner — and opens a safe extension surface so your browser can do the data entry for you.

Recurring transactions

Define a template once — payee, category, amount, account — and a cadence, and Ember posts it on schedule. Cadences use real calendar rules: monthly on the 1st, last weekday of the month, every second Friday. Upcoming instances preview in the ledger's Scheduled group before they post, so your forecast includes what's about to happen, not just what already did.

Split rules

For inflows you divide the same way every time — a paycheck that splits across categories, a shared deposit — a split rule applies the whole breakdown in one action, creating the right payee and tag as it goes. Rules are yours to define and appear right where you work in the ledger.

Venmo charge shortcuts

Covering a shared bill? Right-click a transaction and Ember opens a pre-filled Venmo charge — the amount, a note built from your template, and the right recipient, remembered per payee after the first time.

Browser extension bridge

Ember exposes a small, safe bridge that browser extensions can use to read and enrich your transactions through the app's own UI logic — every extension action inherits the same validation, reconciled-row locks, and undo as a human edit.

The flagship example: the Amazon memo extension matches your Amazon order history to your card transactions and writes what you actually bought into each memo, so "AMZN Mktp US" becomes "USB-C cables, dog food." Install it in two clicks from the Amazon memo extension page.
