Compare every feature

The ledger, in every plan

Budgeting only works on a complete, honest record of what you have. Both budget plans start there.

Every account in one ledger

Checking and savings, credit cards, cash, loans, and mortgages, at the share you own. Add them by hand on Basic, or link them on Advanced.

Reconciled, not estimated

Imported records stay immutable, your edits live alongside, and reconciled rows lock. The balance is the bank's number.

Automatic bank sync on Advanced

Accounts at 12,000+ banks and brokerages link read-only. Brokerages sync balances on Advanced and full holdings on Pro. Your credentials never touch Ember's servers. Basic stays fully manual.

Budget periods that match your paycheck

Seven lengths: weekly, every two weeks, twice a month, monthly, quarterly, every six months, or yearly. Goals by a date or a balance, recurring transactions, splits and transfers, and imports from CSV.

Where the tiers are going

From a ledger that records what happened to a system that says what to do about it. The ledger and budgeting are in private beta today. Ember Pro, which adds investments and real estate, is on the roadmap. No dates, and the order can change.

Budgets

Budget every dollar

Private beta

Every account and every kind of transaction in one keyboard-first ledger: budgets and goals, imports, splits, transfers, tags, amortization, and reconciliation that locks. Advanced adds bank sync.

Ember Pro

Investments and net worth

Roadmap

A double-entry brokerage ledger with cost basis and unrealized gain on every position, real estate, and a net-worth line built on reconciled balances rather than scraped estimates.

Ember Pro

The planner

Roadmap

Contribution room and deadlines across 401(k), IRA, and HSA, the withholding rate that reaches them, savings rate computed from what cleared, idle cash, and card rewards below what you spend. Then a cash-flow forecast: what lands, weeks ahead.

Ember Pro

Households and equity comp

Roadmap

Two logins over one set of accounts, so a couple budgets from the same ledger without sharing a password. Side income and a small business kept apart from household spending. RSU vesting, sell-to-cover, and the cost basis that follows from them.

Every plan

iPhone and Android apps

Roadmap

Every plan is a desktop web product today, and it runs in a phone browser for reviewing and entering transactions. Apps for iPhone and Android come after that.

Ember Pro, against a percentage

A typical adviser charges 1% a year of the assets they manage, in good years and bad, because the fee is on the balance rather than the outcome. Ember Pro is $200 a year at any balance.

If you have An advisor at 1% Ember Pro
$100,000$1,000/yr$200/yr
$500,000$5,000/yr$200/yr
$1,000,000$10,000/yr$200/yr
$2,000,000$20,000/yr$200/yr

Ember Pro is software. It shows your own records and does the arithmetic on them; it does not manage money and gives no advice. The comparison is of price only. Ember Pro is on the roadmap, and early access is by invitation.
